ABOUT US
A medical solution to addiction has been ongoing for centuries with all types of cures being attempted by the medical professions, including incarceration in mental institutions. None of their interventions have worked. In 1935 and afer exhausting all possible solutions two alcoholics discovered that together they could do something they had not been able to do alone. That was the beginning of Alcoholics Anonymous. In 1953 the same principal of one addict helping another was used to start Narcotics Anonymous. Those programs have forged a way for all addicts to potentially recover proving how peer led support groups of one addict helping another can be of greater assistance than all of the medical knowledge in the world.

The Twelve Steps of Marijuana Anonymous are adapted from the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. This is the foundation of our program. These Steps are recommended, not required, but for decades they have proved to be unparalleled for a long range program of living in recovery.

The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using marijuana. There are no dues or fees for membership. We are self-supporting through our own contributions. MA is not affiliated with any religious or secular institution or organization and has no opinion on any outside controversies or causes. Our primary purpose is to stay free of marijuana and to help the marijuana addict who still suffers achieve the same freedom. We can do this by practicing our suggested twelve steps of recovery and by being guided as a group by our twelve traditions.

Marijuana Anonymous uses the basic 12 Steps of Recovery founded by Alcoholics Anonymous, because it has been proven that the 12 Step Recovery program works!
